Automotive manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers face major challenges: the development of automated and networked driving functions has become increasingly complex due to the intricate interaction of software and hardware and the associated validation requirements. This complexity has led to deep and broad supply chains that must be designed efficiently and transparently. To address these challenges, it is necessary to bring together large volumes of data from different sources.
Open and distributed data ecosystems, such as those created by Gaia-X, offer a viable solution by enabling regulated data exchange and providing trust and security through technical mechanisms.
In the Gaia-X 4 PLC-AAD project, the entire product life cycle was addressed, ranging from development through production and supply chain processes to operational use in the field. The project developed the necessary information models and data architectures and demonstrated the approach by integrating test fields and test environments for automated driving functions and their sensors into the data ecosystem. The resulting solution can also be applied to other domains through standardized interfaces.
Foundational Infrastructure for Distributed, Trusted Data Ecosystems in Automated Driving
After three years and three months, the „GAIA-X 4 Product Life Cycle – Arcoss Automated Driving”-consortium has successfully completed its project.
Thanks to the efforts of 20 partners, the project made a significant step toward creating marketplaces. These platforms allow customers to easily find and access the data and services needed for the virtual development and validation of Automated Driving systems.
Distributed dataspaces like envited-x or OVAL are only two results of the project that use different building bricks developed within this project like the Self-Sovereign-Identity authentication, managed data models for different types of data and services.
The Role of SETLabs
The major contributions of SETLabs in GAIA-X 4 PLC-AAD are:
- Development and integration of business models and payment processes
- Distributed verification, validation and certification of sensor models, according to M&S SPICE
- Data acquisition and Gaia-X compliant provision of test data for the validation of sensor models, in cooperation with VIRTUAL VEHICLE
- Provision of an ASAM OSI compliant Level-3 ALKS Traffic Participant
